The real bad part of this thing is that King George is smiling and laughing at the whole incident. I dont think the Iraqi journalist will be smiling and laughing after he goes back to his war torn neighborhood that is in shambles thanks to King George, especially after he has been interrogated harshly tortured.

The news channels put this story up with the caption, Security Breach, about a guy who throws a shoe. No it was a security breach to allow the idiot who killed thousands, disloacated millions and destroyed even more homes, neighborhoods and schools. What did they think was going to happen when this guy showed his face in public in Iraq?

Clearly, the target has had practice. Perhaps hunting with Deadeye Darth.

Past throwing up on my shoes by now, I finally just bowed my head into my hands and bawled, sobbing out “g-damn mothereffing blood-drinking sociopath” and stuff like that, not just to Bush, but everyone who loves the war, even my poor dead mother.

America is no “better” or luckier than the worst country on earth. We are the same, it just doesn’t show so much at a glance. That’s what kills me, is how the rot doesn’t show unless you keep your eyes right on long enough to see what’s right there.

OK, here’s the thing about this: I think a physical assault on the president of the US is scary, not funny.
I am not a Reep or troll. I believe GWB should be hauled into court, if not in DC then in The Hague. He and other people in his criminal administration need to go to jail. I also have a good sense of humor. I think Stephen Colbert is brilliant and Jon Stewart and John Oliver are not far behind.
But I’m of a certain age. I’m one of those folks who can remember where he was when he heard JFK was dead. I remember the wackos who took shots at Gerald Ford and I remember Ronald Reagan’s narrow escape. Beyond that, I remember the deaths of Martin Luther King and, more resonant today given the role of Mideast politics, RFK.
I think all this tittering and snark is a very poor reflection on progressives and I’m very troubled by it.

My son who was there and will have to go back reports something similar. Troops barely blink either, or react, even. Yet, when my boy ended up in the Green Zone for a matter of hours on his way home, there came some explosions within hearing distance, and he says EVERYBODY there dove under tables, going straight into OH-SHIT mode at the drop of a hat, yelling to each other, scattering and panicking, being so used to absolute protection in that rareified place, nothing at all like the war itself. My son said he stood still, turning his head to watch them scatter, ultimately just laughing, refusing to take cover, though everyone was screaming “GET DOWN!” We all know why Maliki doesn’t blink. Most Iraqis don’t, or anyway, it takes a lot more to make them blink.

Bush sure was quick to duck the head he loves best. I never saw such amazing response-time in a man that age. They say miraculous levels of adrenalin will come to your aid when a loved one is in peril. Guess it’s true!!

I think I see where you’re coming from, because I’m from roughly the same age. But in defense of the tittering and snark, I see a vast difference between throwing a shoe as a means of political contempt and the use of a lethal weapon to permanently decide issues. Let the punishment fit the crime and please don’t lump these crimes together as if they are the same thing.
