She was walking into the Xcel Center:
Donna Brazile was hit by pepper spray as she walked to the Xcel Center at the start of the Republican Convention here.
The well-known Democratic pundit and strategist confirmed the incident, but declined to comment further. Protests outside the convention center led to 56 arrests earlier in the day.
Brazile is the Chair of the Democratic National Committee's Voting Rights Institute and was a delegate at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
At a press conference today, city officials were quite proud of law enforcement's ability to deal with demonstrators judiciously. We've got journalists being arrested and political figures being gassed -- what exactly would they think was excessive?

Who was doing the spraying?
While it sucks to be pepper sprayed, it may inspire Ms Brazille to develop a little fire in her furnace as an opposition party member. Her milquetoast performances on TV as a representative of the Democratic Party leave much to be desired. I’m sorry that Ms Brazille got sprayed. I hope it wasn’t a very direct blast. I hope that this unfortunate turn of events provides a wake-up call. Many Democrats like Brazille seem to have been paying little attention to the dangerous tilt toward fascism that has been occurring for quite some time. The thuggish actions of RNC “Security Forces” - unlawful arrests of citizens on public property, infiltration of peaceful activist groups, pre-emptive detention of American Citizens, seizure of property - should not be taken lightly.
Donna Brazille has been around a long time and while she isn’t anyone’s fool I sense burn-out or maybe just a bit out of favor this election cycle.
