What is it with these guys? Can't McCain read his briefing books, or put one of those transmitters on his back that Bush used during the debates in 2004?

 Now McCain is inventing a diplomatic history with Iran that doesn't exist:

Today, some people seem to think they've discovered a brand new cause, something no one before them ever thought of. Many believe all we need to do to end the nuclear programs of hostile governments is have our president talk with leaders in Pyongyang and Tehran, as if we haven't tried talking to these governments repeatedly over the past two decades."

No, actually we haven't. Because as Moira Whelan points out in this piece, the policy of the U.S since 1980 has been not to talk to Iran.
